Tarzana — A Neighborhood Named After a Hero
Tarzana is a San Fernando Valley neighborhood that is famous for a number of reasons. The name is arguably the most notable feature of the neighborhood due to its historic reference. Of course all of us know about the jungle hero named Tarzan. This character was created by a gentleman named Edgar Rice Burroughs, and Mr. Burroughs owned a ranch on the property that is now known as Tarzana.

The neighborhood is situated primarily in what are considered to be the foothills of the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains. There are two renowned country clubs in these foothills, and many Tarzana residents utilize private clubs. These private clubs offer some of the Valley’s finest golfing.
The homes in Tarzana are generally upscale and certainly bridge the gap between the neighboring cities of Woodland Hills and Encino. Reseda borders the neigborhood to the north. Each of the surrounding areas offer a very unique experience that gives Tarzana residents access to a unique experience.
What the Area Offers
The Tarzana neighborhood is considered to be one of the more attractive San Fernando Valley neighborhoods to live in due to the accessibility to the great nightlife that stretches along Ventura Blvd., the collection of good schools — both public and charter — that can be found south of the boulevard, accessibility to the 101 Freeway, and the green quiet foothills that make up the majority of the geography of this attractive neighborhood. With the recent boom in real estate prices south of the boulevard, Tarzana offers Valley Santa Monica Mountain living without some of the enormous price tags associated with fellow south of the boulevard neighborhoods such as Encino, Sherman Oaks, and Calabasas.
