Westlake Village is one of the Conejo Valley’s planned communities, a community that has become a hot spot for many of the brightest minds in Southern California. The area provides a business center, as well as suburban enclave, that marries the natural beauty and splendor of Southern California with a highly respectable and responsible community development.
The area of Westlake Village lies within the confines of Thousand Oaks. The Conejo Valley is unlike its neighboring San Fernando Valley in the sense that the Conejo Valley actually spans two sides of the Los Angeles County line.
History of Westlake Village
The community that is Westlake Village essentially grew out of the late 60s and early 70s. Of course Native Americans lived in the area beginning a few thousand years ago, and during that duration the area remained primarily same. The natural vegetation provided everything for the Chumash people, and it wasn’t until the late 18th century Spanish explorers came to the area and forever changed the region.
One little known fact regarding the area is that the land-grant that makes up the majority of Westlake Village changed hands multiple times, and one of these times it actually fell into the hands of the great newspaperman, William Randolph Hearst, the creator of Hearst Castle.
